Owaisi Criticizes CAA, Confident in AIMIM Candidates for Lok Sabha Polls

AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi has criticized the BJP-led central government for the enforcement of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), labeling the legislation as “unconstitutional.”

“BJP has made unconstitutional law – CAA. It has been made based on religion, which goes against the right to equality, therefore I tore a copy of the Citizenship (Amendment) bill in the Parliament, We were, are and continue to be against this,” stated the AIMIM leader to the press.

He conveyed his confidence in the party candidates’ performance in the Lok Sabha elections. “We are not in alliance with anyone in Telangana. In Uttar Pradesh, we formed PDM (pichda, Dalit, Mulsim). In Telangana, we have not allied with any party. We have full clarity, we have faith in our hard work. I am optimistic that our candidates will be victorious,” he stated.

In response to the allegation of bogus votes made by BJP leader and Hyderabad constituency candidate Madhavi Latha, the AIMIM chief accused them of abusing the Election Commission. “Every year in January, the inclusion of names happens and then lists come out. A final voter comes out before the elections…This means that they are abusing the Election Commission,” he stated.

Asaduddin Owaisi, the incumbent MP from Hyderabad, conducted door-to-door canvassing in the Falaknuma area of the city, encouraging residents to vote for AIMIM. The Lok Sabha elections for the 17 parliamentary constituencies in Telangana are scheduled for May 17. In the 2019 general elections, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) secured nine seats, the BJP four, Congress three, and AIMIM one seat.
