Operation Sindoor is ‘Still Ongoing’ Despite Ceasefire, IAF Confirms

The Indian Air Force (IAF) confirmed that Operation Sindoor continues despite of the renewed ceasefire between India and Pakistan. The operation, launched in the response of the April 22, 2025, terror attack on Pahalgam, is still aimed at targeting terror groups in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The acknowledgement came on the heels of the two nations agreeing to a ceasefire after four days of high-intensity military confrontations. Whereas the ceasefire seeks to de-escalate tension, ongoing operations and ceasefire reports suggest that peace is still elusive.

IAF Statement on Ongoing Operations

The Indian Air Force released a statement on 11 May 2025 announcing that Operation Sindoor remains underway. The operation is still directed at terrorist facilities, particularly within Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The IAF underscored that the operations are still part of their strategic objectives and never strayed from the set mission. The IAF encouraged the public and media to remain restrained from speculative reporting and focus on reporting factually confirmed details.

This assertion indicates the unflinching resolve of India towards national security. The operation, which is ongoing, demonstrates India’s resolve to fight terrorism, even during a tenuous ceasefire with Pakistan.

Ceasefire Agreement and Violations

India and Pakistan settled on a ceasefire on May 10, 2025, after four days of heavy battles, including exchanges of artillery fire and air attacks. Within a few hours, however, after the ceasefire became operational, incidents of explosions and drone incursions were reported in Jammu and Kashmir. India accused Pakistan of ceasefire violations.

Pakistan dismissed the allegations and urged restraint. Although the ceasefire remains technically intact, the breaches underlines the continuing tensions between both countries. These events compound the problems of obtaining lasting peace. Both countries are keeping a close eye on events.

Implications for Regional Security

Operation Sindoor ongoing despite ceasefire talks only serves to indicate the complexity of India-Pakistan relations. The two countries make declarations about the desire for peace, but ground realities depict unabated tensions. Ceasefire violations place more pressure on a already troubled relationship, which complicates efforts toward long-term peace.

The global community is still concerned about potential escalation. While the ceasefire brings immediate relief, sustained diplomatic activity is important to preventing outright war. The sustained interaction between India and Pakistan is important to maintaining long-term stability in the region.

Operation Sindoor persists as India experiences continued security threats, even in the face of the tenuous ceasefire with Pakistan. The IAF’s regular operations demonstrate India’s determination to face terrorism eyeball-to-eyeball. Yet, the ceasefire violation testifies to the challenge of achieving durable peace. In the future, prolonged diplomatic efforts and more commitments towards ceasefire understandings will be essential in de-escalating tensions and enhancing regional stability.
