“Nation Comes First”: Purnia man’s inspiring act
As India witnessed heightened security drills following the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, a young man from Bihar’s Purnia district won the nation’s heart with his dedication. Sushant Kushwaha, scheduled to leave with his wedding baraat at 6 PM, postponed it by two hours to take part in a mega civil defence exercise.
“The nation comes first. If soldiers can leave their weddings to protect us, we can step up too,” Sushant said before joining the operation.
Participated in Operation Abhyaas before wedding
The drills, conducted under Operation Abhyaas, involved simulated emergency responses such as air raids, fire rescues, and evacuations. Sushant had informed both families in advance about his decision and joined the operation with full commitment.
He finally left with the wedding procession at 8 PM, after completing the drill duties with local civil defence personnel.
A Proud Day for India
The security exercise came just hours after India launched Operation Sindoor, a precision military strike on terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The move was in retaliation for the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the military’s swift and targeted response, while reports confirmed that JeM chief Masood Azhar lost key family members in the strike.
