Odisha: Goods Train Derails At Bhubaneswar Railway Station

This morning, two goods train wagons on their way to Angul derailed near the Bhubaneswar railway station in Odisha.

Divisional Railway Manager, East Coast Railway, HS Bajwa, said that no casualty has been reported. He added that one of the derailed wagons had already been re-railed and the other will be done within an hour or one and a half hour. “One wagon has already been re-railed and the second wagon will hopefully be re-railed within one or one and a half hours. There were no casualties as the train was moving very slowly. We are assessing the reason for the derailment but there is no major damage or anything,” the DRM said.

Bajwa explained that the derailment occurred within the Bhubaneswar station yard, facilitating the coaching traffic. “It’s basically in the Bhubaneswar station yard only. The train derailed; it was a goods train that was going towards the Angul side. Two wagons got derailed. It’s in the yard; our two lines, up and down lines, are free and so, we are able to manage the coaching traffic,” he added.

This month, on July 21, a guard bogie of a goods train derailed in the Ranaghat goods yard area of West Bengal. In yet another mishap, an incoming freight train from Alwar Goods Station to Rewari in Rajasthan derailed on the Mathura track at about 2:30 AM on the same day. On July 20, seven coaches of a goods train derailed between Ghaziabad and Moradabad sections in Uttar Pradesh.
