No time for politics, govt tells Opposition as parties question Nuh incident

The violence that broke out in Haryana’s Nuh spread to several other parts of the state on Tuesday, with places like Gurugram and Faridabad witnessing isolated incidents of unrest. Amid the ongoing situation, politics in the state has also heated up. The Opposition Congress has begun attacking the ruling alliance of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) over the issue. The ruling party, meanwhile, has constantly been saying that there should be no politics on the matter as the government is taking all possible steps, while the opposition claims that the “real face” of the BJP has come to the fore as the party.
Pertaining to the matter, Congress stalwart and Leader of the Opposition. Bhupender Singh Hooda said following the input from CID, the police should have been deployed in anticipation. “The incident would have been averted, if the government had come up with necessary steps. Despite having intel, the government failed to take timely steps which resulted in the violence,” Hooda said. He added that as far as resignation is concerned, it is not about a single person, the entire government failed. The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), another Opposition party, said that these riots in Nuh were “sponsored” by the government and questioned why the administration “remained silent” when it had information ahead of time.
However, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has made it clear in no uncertain terms that the culprits will not be spared under any circumstances. Those who are responsible for this violence will be subject to stern action. “The manner in which a social yatra has been targeted is a well-planned conspiracy which is clearly evident from what happened,” he added. Further, he said that even the police have also been attacked which clearly depicts the ill intentions of the culprits. Keeping in mind the seriousness of the matter, those involved in the violence are being identified. Home Minister Anil Vij also appealed to the Opposition, to not politicise the violence and in stead cooperate towards the restoration of peace.
On Tuesday, several meetings were held under the chairmanship of Nuh District Deputy Commissioner Prashant Pawar and SP Narendra Singh Bijarnia and the Members of the constituted committee in a bid to restore peace. Bijarnia assured the people of Nuh, promising no one would be “allowed to spread the violence.”
Apart from this, authorities have appealed to the members of the committee to help identify the accused. In the meantime, the Haryana police department officially recognised the deaths of Home Guards Neeraj and Gursevak who had been deployed from Gurugram to Nuh in the wake of the law-and-order disturbance in that district. “Haryana Police stands with the bereaved families in this hour of grief. While no amount can compensate for the loss of a loved one, the bereaved families will be provided with Rs 57 Lakh each and all support by Haryana Police,” the department said in a statement.
