The Delhi Secretariat has strictly dealt with the filing movement, removing documents and electronic records from the complex without taking permission. Apart from this, entry to the premises has also been restricted while security has also been increased with the BJP gaining a decisive win in the Assembly elections that came to an end the AAP’s decade-long regime.

The General Administration Department GAD issued an order on Saturday stressing the need to protect official documents and records.

“To address security concerns and safety of records, it is requested that no files/documents, Computer Hardware etc. may be taken outside Delhi Secretariat complex without permission from GAD,” the order read.

Departments and branch officials have been instructed to preserve all physical and electronic records. This instruction applies to all officers within the Secretariat, ministerial camp offices, and in-charge personnel in both offices.

The department also issued a separate order requiring all individuals entering the Secretariat complex to be thoroughly verified. The private security guards have been informed to enhance vigilance so that only those persons who are entitled to enter may do so. Officials have been instructed to ensure operational CCTV surveillance throughout the building.

“To address security issues, it is directed that no unauthorized person(s) may be allowed to enter the Delhi Secretariat complex without permission from appropriate authority. Entry of private persons to Delhi Secretariat complex shall be ensured only after due verification of identity and purpose of visit,” the order further stated.

In addition, Delhi Police personnel and reception staff have been instructed to be alert, and any suspicious activity should be reported immediately. Reports earlier claimed that the Secretariat had been sealed completely, but officials clarified that only security measures had been reinforced.

On Saturday, the BJP registered a historic return to power in Delhi after 27 years by winning 48 out of 70 Assembly seats. The AAP, which has been ruling the city for the last decade, could manage to win only 22 seats. Several top AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Saurabh Bharadwaj, lost the elections. However, outgoing Chief Minister Atishi won against BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri.
