No exit allowed from Delhi’s Rajiv Chowk Metro after 9 pm on December 31: DRMC

As preparations for New Year celebrations are underway, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued an order stating that exit from Delhi Metro’s Rajiv Chowk station will be restricted after 9 pm on December 31. However, there are no limitations on passenger entry, which will be permitted until the last train from the Rajiv Chowk Metro station on New Year’s Eve, as clarified by the DMRC. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, with regular metro services available on the rest of the network according to the usual timetable.

Delhi Police had previously released a traffic advisory in anticipation of New Year’s Eve festivities in the national capital. Special Commissioner of Police (CP) (Traffic) SS Yadav assured that necessary arrangements and personnel deployment would be in place at locations where large gatherings are expected, including Connaught Place, India Gate, Aerocity, Qutub Minar, Greater Kailash, Saket Mall, and various other crowded spots. Traffic controls will be implemented in the Connaught Place area after 8 pm.

Yadav also emphasized the importance of avoiding drunk driving and other related offenses. He warned of strict actions against such behaviors, stating, “Drunken behaviour, drunk driving, and such cases have always been strictly looked upon by the police. This time, stricter actions will be taken.”

New Year’s Eve marks the culmination of the current year, with New Year’s Day (January 1) signifying the beginning of the new year in accordance with the Gregorian calendar.
