NITI Aayog’s Special Campaign: Promoting ‘Swachhta’ in Government offices

The National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog) has finished its Special Campaign 2.0, which aimed to resolve lingering issues and promote cleanliness (Swachhta) within government offices. The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) launched this campaign, which ran from November 2022 to August 2023, building on the success of prior iterations, according to a news release from NITI Aayog.
The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) launched a special campaign for the resolution of pending problems from October 2nd to October 31st, 2021, with the objective of paying Mahatma Gandhi a sincere homage of “A Clean India,” according to a news statement.
NITI Aayog, along with its attached offices, Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office (DMEO), Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), and the National Institute of Labour Economics Research and Development (NILERD), took active participation in this initiative, read the release.
One of the primary objectives of Special Campaign 2.0 was the efficient handling of public grievances, references from Members of Parliament, State Governments, Inter-Ministerial Consultations and Parliamentary Assurances by various Ministries and Departments.
This gained significant momentum, with approximately 95 per cent of public grievances and appeals being successfully addressed during the campaign period.
Moreover, the campaign also tackled the issue of record management within government offices. Over 75 per cent of physical files earmarked for review were assessed and cleared, creating more streamlined and efficient processes, read the press release.
Additionally, redundant scrap materials and obsolete items were identified and disposed of, generating revenue in the process.
The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan aspect of Special Campaign 2.0 was instrumental in enhancing the cleanliness of both indoor and outdoor spaces within NITI Aayog and its attached offices. This included efforts to declutter workspaces and optimize the use of office areas, read the press release.
Special Campaign 2.0 represents a significant step towards achieving the government’s commitment to transparent and efficient governance while also contributing to the broader goal of cleanliness and hygiene across government institutions.
The successful completion of this campaign showcases the dedication and effectiveness of NITI Aayog in addressing pending matters and promoting Swachhta in the heart of India’s administrative machinery.
