Nita Ambani Honors Guru-Shishya Tradition at NMACC’s Guru Purnima Celebration, See Pics

Nita Ambani, the Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, recently welcomed eminent artists and guests to the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) for a special Guru Purnima celebration. This annual event, initiated last year, honors the Guru-Shishya Parampara, a tradition deeply woven into India’s cultural fabric.

“The Guru-Shishya tradition has been the backbone of our rich cultural heritage,” Nita Ambani stated, emphasizing its crucial role in preserving the teaching and learning practices that have shaped India’s artistic legacy.

The evening began with Nita Ambani’s heartfelt expression of gratitude towards teachers: “With a heart filled with gratitude and reverence for our teachers, I welcome you all to the second edition of ‘Parampara’.”

She also reflected on her personal journey, acknowledging the significant influence of her parents: “Our parents are our first teachers in life. In my journey, I am profoundly thankful for the role my parents have played in shaping the person I am today. My father’s kindness and my mother’s unwavering dedication and hard work have deeply influenced me.”

Additionally, she recognized the impact of her in-laws: “After marriage, the greatest influence in my life has been my father-in-law, Shri Dhirubhai Ambani. I have also learned invaluable lessons from my mother-in-law, Srimati Kokila Ben.”

A highlight of the celebration was the Ghatnam Symphony, a dynamic blend of traditional and contemporary music, featuring three generations of the Vidhwan Vikku Vinayakram’s family: V. Selva Ganesh, Uma Shankar, and Swaminathan Selva Ganesh. The youngest artist from the Vinayakram family, Tatva, made her debut performance, which Nita Ambani cherished as “Vikku’s 4G.”

Reflecting on NMACC’s cultural mission, Nita Ambani shared, “It is our dream that our legacy and traditions are appreciated and passed down to the next generations. I am overjoyed to see that dream has transformed into reality.”

The upcoming programme includes Ratikant Mohapatra’s tribute to his father, the renowned Odissi maestro Padma Vibhushan Guruji Shri Kelucharan Mohapatra, alongside Srjan. Bharatanatyam maestro Rama Vaidyanathan and her daughter Sannidhi, with 25 disciples, will also perform. The grand finale on July 27 will feature Rahul Sharma, accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra, paying homage to his father, Padma Vibhushan Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, through a symphony of ragas and classical music.

Nita Ambani’s commitment to preserving and promoting India’s artistic heritage through NMACC ensures that these traditions resonate with future generations.

In addition to her cultural endeavors, Nita Ambani’s journey as an educationist and chairperson is noteworthy. She attended Mumbai’s renowned Cathedral and John Connon School and later graduated from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics. Her leadership at Reliance Foundation has been instrumental in launching several educational initiatives, including the establishment of the Dhirubhai Ambani International School, which ranks among India’s top international schools. Her vision and dedication continue to make a significant impact in the fields of education and culture.
