The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has summoned former MLA Watchi, Aijaz Ahmad Mir, to appear before the NIA court in Jammu on September 11 as a witness in the ongoing case involving Aadil Bashir Sheikh. Sheikh, a former Special Police Officer (SPO), is accused of stealing weapons from Mir’s official residence in 2018.
According to the notice from the Special Public Prosecutor of NIA J&K, Mir is required to testify as part of the prosecution evidence in the case titled NIA vs. Aadil Bashir Sheikh and others on the scheduled hearing date.
“You are requested to appear before the Hon’ble Court on 11-09-24 at 10:00 AM sharp without fail. In case of non-compliance, appropriate action will be taken to ensure your presence,” the notice states.
The case dates back to 2018 when Sheikh, who was deployed as an SPO with Aijaz Mir, decamped with seven rifles and ammunition from Mir’s official residence in Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar. The case was later transferred to the NIA for further investigation.
