The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday publicly invited all visitors, tourists, and locals who may have any information, photographs, or videos related to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack to come forward and report them.
Officials added that the agency has already collected a large number of images and videos pertaining to the attack and is now processing them for leads. The NIA, which is investigating the attack, wants to scrutinize each piece of content for possible clues regarding the terrorists and their mode of operation.
Public Might Hold Key Evidence, Says NIA
The NIA feels that most individuals—consciously or unconsciously—might have recorded or observed something significant. “Tourists and others may have, advertently or inadvertently, seen, heard or clicked some relevant detail that may help NIA unravel the conspiracy behind the unprecedented attack on tourists in Kashmir,” officials said.
In a statement, the agency declared, “It has now decided to scale up its efforts even more intensely to ensure that no useful information or evidence is missed out in its investigation into the horrendous crime against humanity.”
Helpline Numbers Released
To ease the process, the NIA has asked citizens to dial 96-54-958-816 or 011-24368800. A senior agency official will then help the caller in sending any related content or leads.
Social Media Videos Under Scanner
Following the terror attack at Baisaran in Pahalgam of Jammu and Kashmir, a number of images started floating on social media websites. The attack resulted in 26 tourist deaths and injured a host of others.
NIA Continues Ground-Level Inquiry
NIA teams have been deployed in Pahalgam, where they continue to investigate the crime scene and interrogate eyewitnesses. The agency is determined to leave no stone unturned in pursuing the entire magnitude of the attack and bringing the perpetrators to book.
