NEET-UG Paper Leak Row: CBI Team In Patna After Bihar Police Transfers Probe

Two officials from the CBI arrived in Patna to investigate the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak. This action followed the initiation of the CBI’s investigation into the paper leak incident and the filing of an FIR.

The initial stop for the CBI team was at the Shastri Nagar police station, where the first FIR regarding the paper leak incident was filed on May 4. Following their visit to Shastri Nagar, the team proceeded to the EOU of Bihar Police.

Following the Bihar government’s move to transfer the NEET-UG case to the CBI, five suspects were arrested by the Bihar Police’s EOU in Jharkhand, totaling 18 arrests concerning the paper leak.

The CBI’s investigation includes IPC sections such as criminal conspiracy and cheating, targeting the broader network involved in the exam irregularities.

The Bihar police revealed that the accused received the question papers at Learn Play School, which they used as a “safe house.” The economic offenses unit attributed this to an organized interstate racket based in Bihar.

Chintu, arrested from Devghat, was at the playschool during the receipt of the question papers and received the solved version on his mobile phone the morning of May 5, the day of the exam. He then printed copies using a WiFi printer, and students were instructed to memorize the questions.

Police also noted that it was well-planned with a drop-off point 2 km away and students brought to the playschool by taxi cabs.

The police stated that the accused received the exam paper from Oasis Play School in Hazaribagh. They also mentioned detecting signs of tampering in the question paper’s packaging. Furthermore, the police have taken statements from employees at the State Bank of India in Hazaribagh and from Blue Dart courier services.
