NEET-UG Exam: 1,563 Candidates To Come For The Retest At 7 Centers

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to hold the NEET-UG retest for 1,563 candidates tomorrow June 23, 2024.

The officials of Union education ministry will also be present at the exam centre, said senior NTA official on Friday.

The retest is being conducted following the removal of grace marks to students, which were given as compensation for the delay in starting the exam at six centres- Meghalaya, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Chandigarh.

As a result, six students acquired perfect 720 score. Thus, triggering the allegations of inflating marks. The retest will be conducted at seven centres and out of 7, six of them are new.

Speaking about new exam centre senior NTA official said,

‘While all other examination centres have changed, the one in Chandigarh, where only two candidates will appear, will remain the same.’

In addition, both the officials of agency and Union education ministry will there at these centres.

‘Besides, officials from the agency and the Union education ministry will also be present at these centres. The step has been taken to ensure smooth conduct of the re-exam.’ said official.

Earlier on Thursday, union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan had clarified on the possibility of cancelling NEET exams, saying cannot put student’s life at stake, who rightfully cleared the exam.
