New Delhi – Sameer Khan, the son-in-law of NCP leader Nawab Malik, tragically passed away on Sunday at Criticare Hospital. He was hospitalized after a severe accident on September 18, which left him with a brain clot and multiple fractures.
The accident happened when Khan and his wife, Nilofar, were outside a hospital in Kurla for a routine check-up. According to police reports, the family’s driver, Abdul Ansari, mistakenly accelerated instead of braking, crashing the SUV into Khan and pushing him around 10-15 feet. Khan was pinned between the vehicle and the boundary wall of a nearby SRA building, suffering devastating injuries.
Khan sustained severe injuries, including a brain clot and fractures in his ribs, shoulder, and neck. Despite efforts at Criticare Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. His passing has left family members and the local community in deep grief.
Vinobha Bhave Nagar police station registered a case against Ansari for rash and negligent driving. In his statement, Ansari claimed that he accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brakes, colliding with Khan and damaging several parked motorcycles before stopping. The police have collected Ansari’s blood samples to rule out alcohol influence and are seeking car experts to understand any possible mechanical failures.
“We issued a notice of arrest to the driver and are currently investigating what led to this tragic accident,” a police official stated.
The incident has shocked local residents and NCP supporters. Many have extended condolences to Nawab Malik’s family, expressing sorrow over the untimely loss.
