Srinagar, August 15: The Union government has appointed Nalin Prabhat (IPS) as the new Special Director General (SDG) of Jammu & Kashmir Police, effective immediately. He will succeed R.R. Swain (IPS), who is set to retire on September 30, 2024.
According to an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Prabhat, an officer from the 1991 batch, will serve as SDG until September 30. The order also states that Prabhat, who has joined the AGMUT Cadre from the Andhra Pradesh Cadre, will officially assume the role of Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu & Kashmir starting October 1, 2024.
This leadership change comes as the Jammu & Kashmir Police prepares for a new chapter under Prabhat’s guidance following Swain’s departure.
