The All India Muslim Women Personal Law Board has publicly supported the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which Parliament passed earlier this week. The board has urged the central government to bring more transparency in the functioning of Waqf boards and ensure that Muslim women receive their rightful share in Waqf-related benefits.

Shaista Amber Commends the Government’s Step

Shaista Amber, who leads the women’s board, praised the present government for introducing the bill. She pointed out that previous governments and religious leaders should have taken such steps earlier.

Suggestion to Help Divorced Muslim Women

Highlighting women’s issues, she suggested using Waqf land to build houses for divorced Muslim women. She said this would be a meaningful way to use the property for social welfare and empower women in need.
