In connection with the suspected rape and murder of her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter in the Malvani neighborhood of Mumbai, Maharashtra, a 30-year-old woman and her 19-year-old “boyfriend” have been taken into custody.

The alleged incident occurred in Mumbai’s Malvani neighborhood, according to a Monday police release, according to an ANI news agency report. The accused adolescent reportedly raped and murdered the two-and-a-half-year-old girl in front of her mother, according to the officials mentioned in the article.

The hospital provided the police with information about the event, revealing that a two-and-a-half-year-old youngster had passed away. A squad of police officers arrived at the hospital to conduct an inquiry upon learning about the aforementioned data. The police team was informed by the doctors that the youngster had been sexually assaulted and had died of shock from asphyxia.

Following the preliminary investigation, which indicated their participation, the child’s mother and the accused man were detained by the police under several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

Police said that a case has been filed in accordance with Sections 70, 64, 65(2), 66, 103, 238, and 3(5) of the BNS, as well as Sections 6, 10, and 21 of the POCSO Act, and that the investigation is still ongoing.

The rape case in Navi Mumbai

According to the police, a 25-year-old Navi Mumbai resident was charged with raping his neighbor on May 2. The purported offense occurred on April 30, according to a PTI news agency story. The woman from Belapur claimed in her complaint that the accused invited her to his house under the pretense of employment and then sexually assaulted her, the report said, quoting an officer from the NRI Sagri police station.

According to the officer, a case has been filed under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 64 (1) and 351 (1) for rape and criminal intimidation, respectively, and an investigation is being conducted.
