At least three people lost their lives, and 20 others sustained injuries after a Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) bus traveling from Kurla to Andheri lost control in Ambedkar Nagar on Monday. The bus struck multiple pedestrians and caused significant damage in a major accident. Several critically injured individuals were rushed to Bhabha and Sion Hospitals for treatment.
The cause of the mishap remains unclear. Witnesses reported that the bus veered to the left, colliding with an autorickshaw before sparks were seen beneath the vehicle. CCTV footage captured the moment the bus hit pedestrians, revealing the severity of the incident.
Emergency teams, including police, fire brigade, and ambulances, arrived promptly to assist victims and manage the situation. The bus driver was detained for questioning as authorities continue their investigation into the accident.
