Mumbai police save man doing online search for ‘ways to commit suicide’

According to the Mumbai police, they successfully intervened to save the life of a 28-year-old man who had exhibited suicidal tendencies, following an alert from the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).

This incident occurred on Thursday when Interpol sent an email to the police, revealing that the individual had been searching on Google for information on how to commit suicide.

Upon receiving this information, the police took immediate action by tracking the man’s mobile phone number, determining that he resided in Malad West, Mumbai, and was originally from Rajasthan. It was discovered that he had been living with relatives in Malad West due to his mother’s incarceration in connection with a legal case. Additionally, he had lost his job approximately five or six months prior and had been struggling to secure new employment. This combination of personal and family challenges had led to his depression, ultimately leading him to search for suicide-related information online.

The Mumbai police promptly visited the man’s residence, bringing him to the police station for further assistance. They engaged in a dialogue with him, helping him reconsider his suicidal thoughts. Subsequently, the police contacted his relatives, and arrangements were made for him to return home safely.
