Mumbai Hit-and-Run: Police Report Multiple Calls from Mihir Shah’s Father Post-Incident

In Mumbai, the Worli Police have revealed significant developments in the hit-and-run case involving Mihir Shah, where his father, Rajesh Shah, reportedly made numerous calls to him following the incident. Prior to the tragic event, Mihir had been seen partying with friends at a Juhu pub, details confirmed by statements from three acquaintances present that night.

Since the accident on Dr Annie Besant Road in Worli, where a scooter was struck resulting in the death of 45-year-old Kaveri Nakhwa, Mihir Shah has been evading authorities. The Mumbai Police have launched a widespread effort, deploying 14 teams to locate the accused who remains at large. A lookout notice has been issued for Mihir, intensifying efforts to bring him to justice.

The incident has sparked widespread concern, prompting Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to voice strong condemnation. He expressed alarm over the increasing frequency of hit-and-run cases in the state and emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards misuse of influence or power to evade responsibility. Shinde affirmed that no individual, regardless of their stature or political affiliations, would escape accountability under his administration.

This tragic event follows closely after another fatal incident in Pune involving a 17-year-old allegedly driving under the influence, reinforcing calls for stricter enforcement and accountability in cases of reckless driving. The victim, Kaveri Nakhwa, a resident of Worli Koliwada, lost her life in the early hours of the morning while riding pillion on a scooter with her husband, who sustained injuries during the collision. The investigation continues as authorities strive to ensure justice for the victims and their families affected by such avoidable tragedies.
