A bizarre incident surfaced in Madhya Pradesh’s Tikamgarh district, as a man allegedly sought half his late father’s body after the man had an argument with his brother over its cremation. The incident took place in Lidhorataal village in Tikamgarh district about 45 kilometers from the district headquarters, reports PTI, and the situation got out of hand, where the police needed to intervene in the matter.
Dhyani Singh Ghosh, 84, who was staying with his younger son Deshraj, passed away on Sunday after a long illness. His elder son, Kishan, who was staying outside the village, came back on hearing the news, said Jatara police station in-charge Arvind Singh Dangi.
Brothers clash over father’s cremation
Police officials mentioned that Kishan had become noisy, sticking to his opinion that he must perform the final rites, although Deshraj claimed that it was the former’s dying wish that the cremation be conducted by the latter. Agencies mentioned that Kishan was drunk while arguing. They further stated that in a ridiculous demand, Kishan said that the body be cut into two parts as both brothers need to share half of the deceased. As tensions rose, villagers informed the police, who swiftly arrived at the scene.
After discussions, officers managed to pacify Kishan, who eventually left, allowing Deshraj to proceed with the cremation.
Separate Incident: BJP MLA’s Brother Shoots His Own Son
In an unrelated case from Madhya Pradesh, a BJP MLA’s brother shot dead his 30-year-old son with a licensed firearm after a dispute in Ujjain on Monday morning, police reported. The shooting took place in Makdon tehsil at around 9:15 am, officials said. ASP (Rural) Nitesh Bhargava said Mangal Malviya, the elder brother of BJP MLA Satish Malviya, shot dead his son, Arvind, with a 12-bore licensed gun.
The dispute reportedly arose over money taken from the family’s grocery store. Following a heated argument, Mangal Malviya opened fire, killing his son on the spot. The body was sent for post-mortem, and the accused has been taken into custody for questioning. Satish Malviya is the BJP MLA from the Ghatiya constituency in Ujjain district.
