Mother Dairy Hikes Milk Prices by ₹2/Litre from April 30, Unveils High-Protein ‘Promilk’

Mother Dairy has announced a price hike of up to ₹2 per litre on its milk variants, effective Wednesday, April 30, 2025. The revision comes amid a sharp rise in procurement costs, which the company says have increased by ₹4–₹5 per litre in recent months.

Why the Price Hike?

According to a company official quoted by PTI, the price hike was made necessary due to:

  • Rising procurement costs, attributed to the early onset of summer and ongoing heatwave conditions
  • The need to balance farmer support and consumer affordability

“This revision reflects only a partial pass-through of increased costs,” said the Mother Dairy spokesperson, adding, “We remain committed to providing quality milk while supporting our farmers.”

Mother Dairy sells around 35 lakh litres of milk daily in Delhi-NCR via its outlets, retail stores, and online platforms.

New Milk Prices (Per Half Litre)

  • Full Cream Milk: ₹34 → ₹35
  • Toned Milk: ₹28 → ₹29
  • Double Toned Milk: ₹25 → ₹26
  • Cow Milk: ₹29 → ₹30
  • Promilk: ₹35 → ₹36

Promilk: High-Protein Milk for Health-Conscious Consumers

The price increase follows the recent launch of ‘Promilk’, a high-protein milk variant by Mother Dairy.
Key highlights of Promilk:

  • Delivers 40 grams of protein per litre
  • Contains 4% fat and 11.5% SNF
  • Fortified with vitamins A and D
  • Priced at ₹70 per litre initially

Launched to tackle India’s protein deficiency, especially in Delhi-NCR, Promilk offers 30% more protein than regular milk without compromising on taste.

“Protein is a vital part of a balanced diet,” said Manish Bandlish, MD of Mother Dairy. “70–80% of Indians struggle to meet their daily protein needs.”

The company plans to begin with 50,000 litres/day and expand beyond Delhi-NCR based on demand. More ‘Pro’ range products like high-protein curd and paneer are also expected in the next three months.
