Modi Backed By Nitish Kumar, Chandrababu Naidu For Third NDA Term

Narendra Modi receives written backing from Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu for the formation of the NDA government for the third consecutive time.

The leaders of the NDA, including Nitish Kumar from JD(U) and Chandrababu Naidu from TDP, unanimously elected Narendra Modi as their leader during a proposal passed by the NDA leaders in Delhi.

They gathered at Modi’s residence in this location following the NDA‘s victory in the Lok Sabha election, which secured his third consecutive term as he prepared to take the oath—a historical first for any ruling alliance since 1962.

The NDA government pledged to uplift living standards and conserve heritage for the nation’s overall development. “We are all proud that the NDA fought the 2024 Lok Sabha polls unitedly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and won. We all NDA leaders unanimously elect Narendra Modi as our leader.”

After meeting with NDA MPs on June 7, NDA allies will meet President Droupadi Murmu. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union HM Amit Shah, and BJP president JP Nadda will discuss government formation with the allies. INDIA bloc leader Sanjay Raut urged PM Modi to take oath soon, promising to distribute sweets on his behalf. Modi resigned today, along with his Cabinet, ahead of the swearing-in ceremony expected in several days.

“The president has accepted the resignation and requested Narendra Modi and the Council of Ministers to continue till the new government assumes office,” the president’s office said in a statement.

The Election Commission’s official results revealed that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance secured 294 out of 543 seats, surpassing the 272 required for a majority but falling short of initial expectations.
