Shocking revelations have emerged in the suspected murder of merchant navy officer Saurabh Rajput, who was brutally murdered by his wife Muskan Rastogi and her paramour Sahil Shukla in Meerut. The couple killed Saurabh on March 4 and cut him into pieces before encasing his body in cement in a drum. The accused pair, after committing the crime, had gone for a vacation to Himachal Pradesh.

A Chilling Conspiracy

Saurabh Rajput, who had come back to Meerut from London to celebrate his wife and daughter’s birthday, fell victim to a horrific conspiracy. Police established that Muskan had poisoned his food with sedatives, leaving him unconscious. She and Sahil stabbed him to death.

The authorities also revealed that it was not the first time they tried. On Muskan’s birthday, February 25, the couple had planned the murder. Their plan failed as Saurabh did not become unconscious. The pair was determined to carry out their plans, and they attacked again on March 4.

Body Hidden in Cement-Filled Drum

Following the killing of Saurabh, Muskan and Sahil cut him up into pieces, with the aim of hiding them in a secluded place. Later, they resolved to hide the pieces inside a huge blue drum, packing cement and sand in it to evade detection.

SP Ayush Vikram Singh, in an interview with PTI, said, “The two had initially planned to dispose of the body parts in some isolated place, but eventually decided to store it in a big blue drum, packing it with sand and cement.”

Murder Followed by a Vacation

To avoid suspicion, Muskan and Sahil immediately left for a trip to Himachal Pradesh, visiting Manali, Kasol, and Shimla. Meanwhile, Saurabh’s body remained hidden inside their home, sealed in cement.

Family’s Shock and Call for Justice

Muskan Rastogi’s parents expressed disbelief over their daughter’s involvement in the crime. Her father, Pramod Rastogi, called for the death penalty for both accused.

“Saurabh left all for Muskan, his job and family. But she took his life too. Muskan has forfeited the right to live. Such a person cannot walk the earth,” he said to PTI.

Arrests and Courtroom Chaos

Both Sahil and Muskan were arrested and brought before the media on Wednesday. The court has remanded them to 14-day judicial custody. However, tensions ran high during their appearance in court when a group of lawyers tried to attack the accused, focusing on Sahil and pulling at his clothes.

Drug Angle Under Investigation

The authorities are also investigating the involvement of drugs in the crime. The police suspect Sahil brought Muskan into contact with marijuana and made her dependent on it.
