Massive Gunfight In Kishtwar, Terrorists Surrounded By Army And CRPF

A fierce gunfight broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Singhpura area of Chatroo, Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir, early Thursday morning, officials confirmed.

Multiple Terrorists Engaged in Live Operation

According to reports, 3 to 4 terrorists are suspected to be holed up at the encounter site. After an initial exchange of fire, additional forces swiftly reached the area to trap the militants.

A coordinated joint operation by the Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Jammu and Kashmir Police is currently underway. The area has been sealed off as forces continue their effort to neutralise the threat.

Recent Surge in Counter-Terror Ops

The encounter follows two earlier gunfights one in Shopian’s Keller on May 13 and another in Tral, Pulwama on May 15. Security forces have intensified surveillance and anti-terror operations across Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

Local authorities have also launched a crackdown on militant infrastructure by demolishing houses linked to terrorists in the region.
