Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi Launches ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Campaign

In the latest episode of “Mann Ki Baat” following the Lok Sabha election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people across the nation to plant trees as a tribute to mothers and a commitment to environmental conservation.

During the 111th episode of “Mann Ki Baat,” PM Modi introduced the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, which was launched on World Environment Day this year. He called upon citizens globally to participate in this initiative, emphasizing the profound significance of the mother-child relationship and its universal acknowledgment.

“I appeal to all my fellow citizens, as well as people worldwide, to plant a tree either with their mother or in her honor,” he stated during the episode. “Planting trees in the name of motherhood will not only pay homage to our mothers but also contribute to the preservation of Mother Earth.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has resumed his monthly radio program after its last broadcast in February ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election. Earlier this week, PM Modi announced the return of the monthly radio broadcast on X, stating, “Delighted to share that after a gap of some months due to the elections, #MannKiBaat is back.”

“The program for this month will be aired on Sunday, 30th June. I urge all of you to share your ideas and suggestions for the program. You can write on the MyGov Open Forum, NaMo App, or record your message on 1800 11 7800,” he added.

Launched on October 3, 2014, “Mann Ki Baat” aims to engage with various segments of Indian society, including women, the elderly, and youth. Apart from being broadcast in 22 Indian languages and 29 dialects, “Mann Ki Baat” is also transmitted in 11 foreign languages such as French, Chinese, and Arabic, among others.

The program reaches over 500 broadcast centers of All India Radio. According to news agency ANI, a study assessing the impact of “Mann Ki Baat” revealed that it has connected with more than 1 billion people at least once.
