Mamata Backs Centre’s Bold Move: Calls For Unity In Wake Of ‘Operation Sindoor’ | WATCH

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday expressed strong support for the Centre after the Centre launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, a surgical Indian military attack on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK).

Making a statement at a press conference held at the State Secretariat, Banerjee said, “We are one in the battle against terrorism. There must not be any splits among us.” She underlined national solidarity, stating that West Bengal is “shoulder to shoulder” with the Union government in the war against terror.

The Trinamool Congress chief had already welcomed the armed intervention, hoisting patriotic slogans such as “Jai Hind! Jai India!”

Banerjee also joined an online meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah that involved Chief Ministers of other states sharing a common border. The Chief Minister emphasised keeping people calm during the meeting and called on the media to provide only confirmed information and not indulge in panic-spreading reports.

“There is no reason to panic. Don’t disseminate false news,” she exhorted, invoking responsible reporting at the time of the strikes.

Her statement marks an unusual display of political solidarity, highlighting the gravity of the situation and national determination against terrorism.
