According to police, a 35-year-old Armyman died while attempting to launch a firecracker with his mouth during a wedding in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district on Wednesday.
The incident occurred in Jalokhya village, Sardarpur tehsil, within the district’s Amjhera police station limits on on Monday night. As per reports, the soldier is identified as Nirbhay Singh (35) was a soldier assigned to Jammu and Kashmir.
Amjhera police station, in-charge, CB Singh revealed in a statement “The soldier arrived here on a month’s leave to attend the wedding of his niece. During the celebrations, Singh placed a ‘rocket’ firecracker in his mouth and tried to burst it. But instead of shooting, it exploded killing him on the spot.”
A case had been filed, and an investigation was underway. He also stated that the body was returned to family members following the post-mortem.
According to reports, the family members informed Army officials about the incident, and on Tuesday afternoon, a team from Mhow arrived at the village.
The officers took the soldier’s mortal remains from the village to the Muktidham in the army’s official vehicle, and his last rites were performed according to protocol.
