In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), led by Badruddin Ajmal, is expected to run for three of Assam’s fourteen Lok Sabha seats. Senior leader of the AIUDF and MLA Rafiqul Islam told that the party has chosen to run for three Assamese Lok Sabha seats.
“Our party has decided to contest in Dhubri, Karimganj and Nagaon Lok Sabha seats. Earlier, our party won the Karimganj seat and our party Chief Badruddin Ajmal is the incumbent MP of the Dhubri Lok Sabha constituency. This time we are focusing on the Nagaon Lok Sabha seat,” Rafiqul Islam said.
He further said that AIUDF was fully prepared for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
The AIUDF MLA also said that his party would fight against BJP.
Regarding the 12 political parties in the state that make up the United Opposition Forum, which is chaired by Congress, the AIUDF MLA stated that although the forum was established, it was not cohesive. The Indian opposition political parties block, AIUDF, received no invitation to join. Prior to this, AIUDF Chief Badruddin Ajmal declared that his organization will support the INDIA bloc in its endeavor to form the next central government, without conditions. In the Lok Sabha elections of 2019, the AIUDF secured a single seat. In Assam during the 2019 Indian general election, the AIUDF received 7% of the vote. The party ran in Karimganj and Barpeta, seats they had previously won in 2014.
