Lok Sabha Elections Phase 6: Voter Turnout of 59.82 Pc Recorded So Far as Polling Concludes in Phase 6

In the scorching heat across the nation, the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections saw an approximate voter turnout of 59.82 percent, as per the Election Commission of India. Notably, West Bengal boasted the highest turnout so far at approximately 78.20 percent, while Jammu and Kashmir registered the lowest at 53.38 percent.

Other states and Union Territories recorded turnout figures as follows: Bihar – 54.68 percent, Haryana – 59.36 percent, Jharkhand – 63.27 percent, NCT of Delhi – 56.04 percent, Odisha – 60.97 percent, and Uttar Pradesh – 54.03 percent. The Election Commission lauded the peaceful and smooth conduct of polling, supported by stringent security measures.

Over 11.13 crore voters exercised their franchise, with 11.4 lakh polling officials facilitating the process. Anantnag-Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir witnessed peaceful polling with a turnout of 53.38 percent, marking a significant milestone.

In the ongoing general elections 2024, parliamentary constituencies in the Valley, including Srinagar, Baramulla, and Anantnag-Rajouri, saw historic turnouts. Across Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Jharkhand, NCT Delhi, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, a total of 889 candidates vied for victory.

Key constituencies in this phase included those in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and West Bengal. With the completion of phase 6, polling for the general elections 2024 concluded in 28 States/UTs and 486 parliamentary constituencies.

The final phase (Phase 7) polling, scheduled for June 1, covers 57 parliamentary constituencies across 8 States/UTs, marking the culmination of the electoral process.
