Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Phase 4: 25% Voter Turnout till 11 am, Polling Underway in 96 constituencies

As the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha election is taking place in 96 constituencies, Andhra Pradesh records 23.00% voter turnout till 11 am in the elections to its State Legislative Assembly. Odisha records 23.28% voter turnout till 11 am in the first phase elections to its State Legislative Assembly.

As the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha election is taking place in 96 constituencies, 10.35 percent of voters had cast ballots as of 9 a.m.

West Bengal recorded the highest turnout at 15.24 percent, according to data released by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Madhya Pradesh came in second with 14.97 percent, Jharkhand with 11.78 percent, Uttar Pradesh with 11.67 percent, Bihar with 10.18 percent, Telangana with 9.51 percent, Andhra Pradesh with 9.05 percent, Odisha with 9.23 percent, and Maharashtra with 6.45 percent. The lowest turnout, 5.07 percent, was recorded in Jammu and Kashmir.

The voting commenced at 7:00 a.m. on Monday for the fourth phase, covering 96 Parliamentary Constituencies across nine states and one Union Territory. Simultaneously, polling began for all 175 seats of the State Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh and 28 seats of the State Legislative Assembly of Odisha.

Out of the 96 Lok Sabha seats, Andhra Pradesh has 25, Telangana has 17, Uttar Pradesh has 13, Maharashtra has 11, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal each have eight, Bihar has five, Jharkhand and Odisha each have four, and Jammu and Kashmir has one.

A total of 4,264 nominations were filed for the 96 parliamentary constituencies, according to the Election Commission.

The fourth phase features significant contests in various constituencies, involving prominent leaders such as AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, West Bengal Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, TMC leader Mahua Moitra, BJP leader Giriraj Singh, JDU’s Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh), TMC leaders Shatrughan Sinha and Yusuf Pathan, BJP leaders Arjun Munda and Madhavi Latha, and Andhra Pradesh Congress Chief YS Sharmila.

Till phase 3 of the Lok Sabha polls, voting has concluded smoothly and peacefully in 283 Lok Sabha seats.
