Lok Sabha Elections 2024: ECI Orders Re-polling In Karnataka’s Chamarajanagar

In a major announcement, the Election Commission of India (ECI) declared that a re-polling will be conducted in the Hanur assembly, which falls under the parliamentary constituency of Chamarajanagar in Karnataka, on Saturday.

This decision was made after the polling booth in Indiganatta village was vandalized by villagers who subsequently boycotted the election due to the lack of amenities given by the state.  Following the incident, the Returning Officer and General Observer submitted the report for Chamarajanagar Parliamentary Constituency.

After the consideration of all the material circumstances, the election commission will conduct the election on April 29. Under the appropriate section of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, at the Government Lower Primary School.

This decision follows after the electronic voting machines were destroyed during the clash between two groups of the people-whether to vote or not in the Lok Sabha elections.
Meanwhile, the next phase of elections in Karnataka will be conducted on May 7,2024.
