Leopard Intrudes Jaipur Home, Trapping Family For Two Hours Before Capture

A family of five, including two children, faced a frightening ordeal when they were confined to a room for approximately two hours after a leopard invaded their residence and prowled around in the Malviya Nagar industrial area of Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Tuesday morning.

Following a rescue operation lasting over two hours, the forest department successfully tranquilized the leopard, allowing the trapped family to be safely rescued. According to authorities, the incident occurred around 8 am when a leopard strayed from a nearby forest and entered a factory in the industrial zone of Malviya Nagar on Tuesday.

At 9 am, a forest department team arrived at the scene, only to find that the leopard had already made its way into the neighboring Birla Institute of Technology. As word spread of the leopard’s presence on campus, panic ensued among college staff and students, leading to a rapid response from police and forest department personnel, who cordoned off the area.

In an effort to tranquilize the leopard, the forest department team fired a shot, but the leopard retaliated and attacked a guard named Ganesh Prajapat, causing serious injuries. He was promptly taken to a hospital for treatment. Following this incident, the leopard sought refuge in a house near a factory, where a family of five, including two children, were present. Sensing the leopard’s presence, they secured themselves inside a room, while the animal wandered inside the house.

Upon receiving the alert, a team of forest department officials promptly arrived at the scene and initiated the rescue operation. They utilized tranquilizer guns, firing three shots at the leopard. The second shot rendered the leopard partially unconscious, while the third shot resulted in complete sedation, enabling its safe capture. The trapped family members were subsequently rescued unharmed. DFO Jagdish Chandra Gupta verified the incident. Further information is anticipated.
