LEH, Aug 08: The Secretary of the Department of Law and Justice, UT Ladakh, Shashi Kant Bhagat, convened a crucial meeting on Tuesday with law officers from Leh and Kargil, the latter joining virtually, to discuss key issues related to case management and legal compliance within the Union Territory’s administrative framework.
During the meeting, Bhagat directed the law officers to submit detailed data on all pending cases, including their current status. He emphasized the importance of preparing for the upcoming Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) circuit bench session for Ladakh, scheduled for August 22-23, 2024, and instructed the officers to ensure that all necessary replies are filed promptly.
Stressing the significance of meeting deadlines for filing compliance reports in important matters, Bhagat urged the law officers to maintain regular communication with standing counsel. He also clarified the roles and responsibilities of the law officers, highlighting the need for prompt file clearance and ensuring that no case is overlooked.
Additionally, Bhagat announced that a circular would soon be issued to expedite the resolution of legal matters across all administrative departments in UT Ladakh. This move is aimed at preventing any adverse court orders due to delays in legal proceedings.
