Ayush Jaiswal, a 17-year-old teenager, who was getting ready for the IIT-JEE competitive exam, was found dead by suicide in his room in Kota City, Rajasthan. He was from Motihari, Bihar, and was residing in a paying guest house near Samrat Chowk in the Mahaveer Nagar area for two years while preparing for the exam.
Mahaveer Nagar SHO Mahendra Maru said, “A boy preparing for a competitive exam died by suicide on Saturday night. He was found hanging in his room. No suicide note has been recovered yet. The post-mortem will be conducted after his family members arrive here.”
According to the police report, his friends grew concerned and alerted the guest house owner when he didn’t leave his room by Saturday night as planned. Upon receiving this information, the owner took immediate action and contacted the police when repeated attempts to make contact with the student, including knocking on the door, went unanswered.
Upon receiving critical information, a dedicated team arrived at the location, swiftly breaking the door lock to gain access, only to discover the student suspended by a rope. The police acted promptly, carefully bringing him down and swiftly transporting him to New Medical College Hospital, where medical professionals sadly confirmed his passing.
This tragic incident marks the 11th suicide among students preparing for competitive exams in the education hub of Kota this year, underscoring the urgent need for mental health support and intervention in academic communities.
