Two army personnel were martyred in an ongoing operation in the Ahlan area of Kokernag in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday.
A senior police officer confirmed that during the firefight, two army soldiers sustained critical injuries. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, they succumbed to their injuries.
The Chinar Corps of the Army, via the micro-blogging platform X, reported, “Two civilians have also been injured due to indiscriminate, desperate, and reckless firing by terrorists in the ongoing operation. They have been provided immediate medical aid and evacuated further. Operations are ongoing.”
The intense gunfight began earlier in the day after security forces received specific intelligence about militant activity in the area. The operation to neutralize the militants is still in progress.
