Kejriwal Presses on BJP’s Retirement Age Policy: Will Modi Step Down at 75?

In his first public appearance since resigning as Delhi’s Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal posed a series of pointed questions to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat during the ‘Janta Ki Adalat’ at Jantar Mantar. Kejriwal questioned whether the rule that forced senior BJP leaders like LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi into retirement at 75 would also apply to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who turns 75 in 2025.

Kejriwal raised concerns about BJP’s alleged tactic of breaking opposition parties, calling it dangerous for democracy. He also highlighted the contradiction of BJP inducting leaders they had previously labeled corrupt and questioned the RSS’s oversight on these matters. Additionally, Kejriwal took a swipe at BJP president JP Nadda’s comment that the party no longer needed RSS’s support, asking if the RSS felt slighted.

Reflecting on his resignation, Kejriwal stated that he stepped down to fight the “false cases” against him and reaffirmed his commitment to the people of Delhi ahead of the upcoming assembly election, calling it his “Agni Pariksha.”

Kejriwal also reiterated his party’s achievements in Delhi, including free electricity, education, and healthcare, contrasting them with BJP-ruled states. He denied accusations of corruption, claiming he earned nothing but public love during his tenure, and promised to vacate the CM’s residence during Navratri.

The BJP’s response to Kejriwal’s remarks is awaited.
