In a government hospital located in Molakalmuru taluk, Chitradurga district of Karnataka, a video emerged showing a doctor using the flashlight of a mobile phone to treat a patient. This incident occurred amidst a persistent power outage affecting the area for the past week.

The video, shared widely on social media platforms, prompted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to launch criticism against the ruling Congress government, dubbing it as “Darkness Bhagya.” This phrase is a play on the Congress’ scheme, “Gruha Jyoti,” which promises free electricity up to 200 units for households. The BJP’s use of “Darkness Bhagya” implies a mockery of the lack of adequate electricity supply despite the government’s promises.

Highlighting the dire situation, the BJP condemned the Congress-led government’s performance in Karnataka, alleging that even hospitals are left without electricity. The party took to social media, particularly Twitter, to express its discontent, emphasizing the inability of the government to ensure basic amenities like electricity in healthcare facilities.

In response to the BJP’s criticism, the Congress had previously referred to the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “Chombu” government, symbolizing emptiness. In retaliation, the BJP coined the term “Chippu” government, targeting the Siddaramaiah regime in Karnataka.

The incident sheds light on the challenges faced by healthcare facilities and underscores the need for reliable infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted medical services, especially during emergencies.
