Kareena Kapoor Khan Appointed as New National Ambassador of UNICEF India

UNICEF India recently announced the appointment of Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan as its new National Ambassador. The “Crew,” star has been associated with UNICEF India since 2014 and will now play a key role in advancing the organization’s mission to promote children’s rights to early childhood development, health, education, and gender equality.

Kareena Kapoor Khan, who previously served as a Celebrity Advocate for UNICEF India, expressed her honor and commitment to the cause. In a statement, the 43-year-old actor emphasized the importance of children’s rights, highlighting their crucial role as the future generation. She pledged to leverage her voice and influence to support vulnerable children, particularly focusing on areas such as early childhood, education, and gender equality.

UNICEF India’s decision to appoint Kareena Kapoor Khan as the National Ambassador underscores her longstanding dedication to humanitarian causes. Her role will involve advocating for every child’s right to a fair chance and a promising future.

In addition to Kareena’s appointment, UNICEF India introduced its first-ever Youth Advocates, who will serve as peer leaders and champions on various critical issues. These advocates include Gauranshi Sharma from Madhya Pradesh, focusing on the right to play and disability inclusion; Kartik Verma from Uttar Pradesh, advocating for climate action and child rights; singer Nahid Afrin from Assam, addressing mental health and early childhood development; and Vinisha Umashankar from Tamil Nadu, recognized as a budding innovator and STEM pioneer.

UNICEF India Representative Cynthia McCaffrey expressed delight in welcoming Kareena Kapoor Khan as the National Ambassador, noting her impactful contributions to national and global campaigns. McCaffrey emphasized the collaborative effort between Kareena and the four Youth Advocates, highlighting their collective dedication to advocating for child rights and driving positive change in India.
