Kapil Sibal hits back Amit Shah over ‘no riots’ remark in BJP regime

Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal slammed Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday over his remark that riots don’t occur under BJP rule. Sibal termed it “another jumla.” He also mentioned the incidence of communal violence under a BJP government in the Centre and in several states.

While speaking at a public meeting in Hisua, which falls under Bihar’s Nawada district, Amit Shah stated that riots don’t take place under the BJP’s regime.

He further added that, “Let’s give a chance to PM Modi to return to power in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, and vote for the BJP to form its own government in the assembly polls to be held in Bihar in 2025.

Reacting to Shah’s remark, Sibal said that “5415 communal riots took place between 2014-2020 as per the NCRB data.

Regarding the occurrence of communal violence in West Bengal and Bihar, Sibal questioned on Sunday the silence of PM Modi regarding the matter and said, “Let not the 2024 general elections be the reason” for the violence.
