A passenger train derailed early Tuesday morning, causing two deaths and injuring 20 others. The accident happened around 3:43 am near Charadharpur in Jharkhand, between Rajkharswan West Outer and Barabamboo.
Initial reports indicate that 18 coaches of the train derailed. This included 16 passenger coaches, one power car, and one pantry car. Officials stated that the derailment occurred when a goods train coming from the opposite direction went off the tracks and collided with the passenger train.
All injured passengers have received first aid, and a bus service is taking them to Chakradharpur. For those seeking more information, helpline numbers are available: Mumbai – 022-22694040, Nagpur – 7757912790, and Bhusawal – 08799982712.
This incident is part of a troubling trend of train derailments this month. On July 18, a derailment of the Dibrugarh Express in Uttar Pradesh resulted in four deaths and about 20 injuries. Shortly after, a goods train derailed near Amroha, disrupting the Delhi-Lucknow rail line, though there were no reported injuries or deaths.
