JD Vance in Spotlight as Two Tragedies Follow His Visits

US Vice President JD Vance’s recent foreign tour has drawn unusual attention online. Some social media users have started speculating—though insensitively—that misfortunes seem to follow him wherever he goes.

Meeting the Pope and Sudden Tragedy

JD Vance visited Pope Francis on Easter Sunday in Italy. Just a day later, the Pope passed away after suffering a stroke. Soon after that, Vance traveled to India with his wife and three children. They arrived on Monday morning.

Tragically, a day after their arrival, over 25 tourists were killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. The shocking timing of these back-to-back events triggered reactions on social media.

Speculations and Reactions on Social Media

Some people online suggested that Vance’s presence might be linked to bad luck. A user named Sanjana Singh posted on X, “JD Vance’s world tour is something else! Meets the Pope in Italy, and poof—Pontiff’s gone the next day. Lands in India, and boom, Pahalgam terror attack kills 28, including an Italian and an Israeli. Coincidence or cosmic bad luck?”

Another X user expressed unease, saying, “I can’t help but feel that JD Vance brings misfortune. Just the day before yesterday, he met the Pope, and the very next day, the Pope passed away. Yesterday, he arrived in India, and today we’re witnessing this heinous terrorist attack. The timing feels eerily unsettling.”

One user even joked about isolating the Vice President, saying, “JD Vance should be sent to quarantine before he meets another person. Pope Francis died and a deadly attack in Pahalgam.”

JD Vance’s India Itinerary

Despite the grim coincidence of events, Vance has continued his planned tour. He traveled to India with his wife, Usha Chilukuri Vance, and their three children—Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel.

The family landed in New Delhi on Monday and attended a dinner with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. That night, they flew to Jaipur and visited the Amber Fort the following day. Vance also gave a speech at an event focused on US-India relations.

Currently, the family is in Agra to visit the Taj Mahal. They are scheduled to return to the United States on Thursday.
