Jammu And Kashmir Terror Attacks: Amit Shah Conducts Security Review

Union Home Minister Amit Shah conducted a comprehensive review of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir during a high-level meeting with top security officials. This meeting was convened in response to the recent surge in terror attacks within the Union territory.

Shah has also issued a directive to convene a meeting on June 16 at the North Block to thoroughly review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and to assess the preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.

Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, alongside National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, senior officers from the Army, Police, Jammu and Kashmir administration, and the Ministry of Home Affairs, are expected to attend the upcoming meeting.

In recent days, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a series of organized terrorist assaults. The turmoil commenced on Sunday with an assault on a pilgrim-filled bus in Reasi district, resulting in the tragic loss of nine lives and injuries to 41 individuals as the bus careened off the road into a ravine.

Subsequently, two days later, terrorists struck a joint security checkpoint in Doda district, causing injuries to six security personnel. That same night, a violent confrontation in Saida Sukhal village, Kathua district, resulted in the demise of a CRPF jawan and a terrorist.

The violence persisted into Wednesday evening with another attack in the Kota Top region of Doda district, where a police officer was wounded during an exchange of gunfire with terrorists.

PM Modi held a high-level meeting to assess the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir amid increased terror attacks. Attended by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and senior officials, the meeting covered security challenges and ongoing counter-terror efforts in the region.

Modi emphasized deploying India’s full counter-terror capabilities for regional safety. Discussions with Home Minister Amit Shah included plans for additional security forces and ongoing counter-terror operations.
