Alert security forces foiled another attempt by Pakistan to disrupt peace in Jammu and Kashmir by killing two heavily armed terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
According to an official, based on intelligence inputs regarding a likely infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and J&K Police during the intervening night of October 4-5 at Gugaldhar, Kupwara.
Alert troops noticed suspicious activity and challenged the infiltrators, leading to indiscriminate firing from the terrorists. The vigilant soldiers responded swiftly, resulting in the killing of two terrorists.
“Two terrorists have been eliminated by the security forces in the ongoing Operation GUGALDHAR. War-like stores have been recovered,” read a post by the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army.
The operation is still ongoing, and a thorough search of the area is underway to ensure no further threats remain, the official added.
