India’s Nuclear Sector Among World’s Most Dynamic: IAEA Chief

India’s Nuclear Sector Among World’s Most Dynamic: IAEA Chief

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi has commended India’s nuclear sector, calling it one of the “most dynamic” in Asia and the world. Speaking at the Raisina Dialogue 2025 in New Delhi, Grossi highlighted India’s advancements in nuclear regulations, technology, safety, and security while emphasizing close collaboration between India and the IAEA.

India’s Growing Nuclear Sector

During the event, Grossi remarked, “India’s nuclear sector is growing. It is one of the most dynamic in Asia and the world, and the IAEA is cooperating with India on sector regulations, technology, safety, and security.” He acknowledged India’s significant role in global nuclear affairs and its commitment to advancing nuclear science and technology for peaceful purposes.

Jaishankar’s Meeting with Grossi

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Grossi on the sidelines of the event. Jaishankar shared their discussion on social media, stating, “Delighted to meet DG @iaeaorg @rafaelmgrossi on the sidelines of #Raisina2025. Discussed nuclear safety and non-proliferation issues.”

In response, Grossi expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and reaffirmed India’s role as a key global player in nuclear science and technology. “India is a key player in international affairs and a strong @IAEAorg partner in nuclear science & tech for peace and development,” Grossi posted on X.

India’s Role in Workforce Development

Grossi also highlighted India’s role in developing a skilled workforce for the nuclear industry. In a prior post on X, he noted, “Nuclear energy is growing, especially in Asia, and a strong workforce is key to sustain it. India is an important nuclear country, and @IAEAorg partnering with @DAEIndia GCNEP will help train the next generation. Congrats on the new Nuclear Engineering Course & School for Nuclear Tech/Sciences.”

India’s Participation in Raisina Dialogue

The Raisina Dialogue, hailed as India’s premier conference on geopolitics and geo-economics, provided a platform for world leaders to discuss pressing global issues. This year’s event saw participation from major global figures, including New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.
