Indian Railways Cancels Services To Bangladesh Due To Violent Protests

Kolkata/Dhaka: The Indian Railways has canceled two trains to Bangladesh because of widespread protests there. The protests in Bangladesh are against a quota system for government jobs, and have led to a nationwide curfew.

The cancellations are as follows:
– Kolkata-Dhaka Maitree Express: This train, which was scheduled for Saturday, has been canceled.
– Kolkata-Khulna Bandhan Express: This train, which was scheduled for Sunday, has also been canceled due to uncertainty over train availability.

An Eastern Railway official said the cancellations are due to “unavoidable circumstances.”

Indian High Commission Issues Safety Advisory

The Indian High Commission in Bangladesh has issued a safety advisory for Indian citizens. The advisory advises Indians to be cautious and avoid going out or participating in the ongoing protests, which have been violent.
