Two weeks on from the fatal terrorist attack in Pahalgam that saw 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali national lose their lives, India on Monday initiated a planned military strike under ‘Operation Sindoor’.

The precision attacks were made at several points in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, as part of what the Indian Defence Ministry had outlined as a strong ‘commitment’ to make ‘accountable’ those behind the April 22 attack in Indian-occupied Kashmir.

On Thursday, the Indian Armed Forces were said to have neutralised an Air Defence system in Lahore. Sources confirmed that Pakistani sites’ Air Defence radars and systems were targeted. The Indian side delivered the response ‘in the same domain with same intensity as Pakistan’, according to officials.

Following the Indian attack, Pakistan intensified its unprovoked firing along the Line of Control. The Ministry of Defence stated, “Pakistan has intensified the scale of its unprovoked firing along the Line of Control using Mortars and heavy calibre Artillery in sectors in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar and Rajouri sectors in Jammu and Kashmir.”
