Minutes before it began to carry out airstrikes as part of Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army posted a video showing tanks, guns, and soldiers with weapons in action. The video concluded with the message: “Always ready, always victorious.” The video was accompanied by the caption: “Ready to Strike, Trained to Win.”

Soon after the video went public, Reuters reported hearing blasts in Pakistan’s Bahawalpur and Muzaffarabad areas. It was subsequently confirmed by the Indian Defence Ministry that nine terror-related sites had been hit.

“A little while ago, the Indian armed forces launched ‘OPERATION SINDOOR‘, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed,” the ministry’s official statement read.

The strikes were conducted as a direct retaliation against the Pahalgam terror attack of a fortnight ago that killed 25 Indians and one Nepali national. Indian authorities explained that the attacks were “focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature,” adding that “no Pakistani military installations have been targeted.” They also asserted that “India has exercised a great deal of restraint in target selection and execution method.”

The pre-strike video included Indian troops gearing up for combat—firing tanks and loading guns. A voice in the background also says, “The burden of my brothers and sisters’ pain shall find you.”

Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) responded to the strike, stating that India had launched airstrikes at three targets—Bahawalpur, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad—and still within Indian airspace.

“All Pakistan Air Force planes are airborne. All the strikes were carried out by India from within its own airspace,” the ISPR release observed.

The Pakistani military also warned that it would retaliate. “Pakistan will hit back at a time and place of its own choice. It will not remain unanswered. India’s temporary joy will be followed by permanent sorrow,” stated ISPR Director General.
