Indian Army Keeps Vigil on Pakistan’s Ceasefire Breach After Operation Sindoor

The Indian Army remains on high alert after Pakistan launched ceasefire violations in response to India’s successful Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror infrastructure across the Line of Control (LoC), defence officials confirmed on Wednesday.

Gen Dwivedi in Constant Touch With Local Units

According to officials, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi is maintaining direct communication with field commanders regarding Pakistan Army’s artillery attacks on civilian areas. In light of these developments, Indian formations have been granted operational freedom to respond appropriately.

“Formations have been given operational freedom to give appropriate reply to the Pakistan Army’s use of artillery guns to target Indian civilians along the Line of Control,” an official said.

Civilian Casualties Reported in Poonch and Tangdhar

Following India’s precision-guided attacks on nine terror locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), Pakistani forces retaliated by shelling civilian areas in Poonch and Tangdhar. The shelling claimed 15 civilian lives and injured 43 others, defence officials confirmed.

CM Omar Abdullah Convenes Emergency Border Security Meet

Amid escalating tensions, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah held an emergency meeting with officials to review the current situation in the border districts and coordinate necessary response measures.

Operation Sindoor: A Historic Precision Strike

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the Indian Armed Forces for executing Operation Sindoor with “precision, alertness and sensitivity,” stating that the mission marked a new chapter in Indian military history.

“You know that today, under the guidance of PM Narendra Modi, our Indian armed forces have made us all proud… Last night, our Indian armed forces displayed their valour and bravery, and scripted a new history,” said Rajnath Singh.

He emphasized the armed forces’ efforts to avoid civilian harm. “Our armed forces also showed sensitivity in ensuring that the civilian population is not affected at all. In a way, we can say that Indian jawans showed precision, alertness and humanity. On behalf of the entire country, I congratulate the jawans and officers,” he added.

Strikes in Response to Pahalgam Terror Attack

The Indian military action came as a direct response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in 26 civilian deaths. India’s coordinated tri-service operation targeted five terror camps and four support locations, making it the deepest Indian strike inside undisputed Pakistani territory since the 1971 war.
