Indian Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi Visits Kashmir, Reviews Security with LG After Pahalgam Attack

Following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 people dead and many others injured, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha held a meeting with Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi to discuss the security of the region. The meeting at the high level was centered on short- and long-term counter-terrorism measures, operational coordination, and increased vigilance.

Powerful Message from LG: ‘Every Perpetrator Must Pay’

In the meeting, LG Sinha issued a harsh statement, stating, “Each perpetrator and facilitator of Pahalgam terror attack, wherever he be or to whomsoever he be, has to be tracked and they have to pay the high price for cowardly and dastardly act against our citizens.”

He further stated that the country had unshakeable confidence in the bravery of its security forces and police. “The country has complete confidence in the bravery and gallantry of our army, police and CAPFs and they have to function in close coordination to identify perpetrators, abettors and OGWs of Pahalgam terrorist killing and pursue the whole chain in a consistent manner and neutralise them,” he added.

Army Presence and Religious Inspiration

The meeting was timely as General Upendra Dwivedi reached Kashmir, a visit that was symbolically and resolute. A large message in the Bhagavad Gita on a board read:
“O Lord Behold my Chariot, Through which I am always Decidedly Victorious… Courage and Tenacity are its Wheels. Immutable Truth and Character are its flags.”

This remark was a sobering reminder of the moral and spiritual might standing behind India’s military in combating terrorism.

Senior Army Commanders Attend Review

The session also witnessed the presence of some important senior military commanders, such as General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Northern Command Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, and GOC 15 Corps Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava. The leaders deliberated on operational readiness and additional strategies to make sure such attacks do not occur in the future.

Focus on Synergy and Strategy

Officials discussed the current security arrangement, plans for removing terror infrastructure in the future, and a greater degree of integration between different agencies. LG Sinha called upon the security forces not only to chase the perpetrators but also to ensure dismantling the ecosystem supporting terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

He emphasized the necessity of a sustained and proactive approach to wipe out threats and provide peace throughout the region.
